TLC's Welcome to Plathville season 3 concluded in November of 2021 and no official updates have been given about a 4th season. Welcome to Plathville has been neither officially renewed or cancelled by TLC as of February 22, 2022. The series closed with multiple potential storylines for a fourth season. Moriah, Micah, Ethan, and Olivia especially offer appeal for a 4th season as Moriah and Micah further explore their independence and newfound careers in music and modeling, respectively, and as Ethan and Olivia continue to struggle with their marriage and feud with Ethan's parents, Kim and Barry. Meanwhile, with Lydia and Isaac quickly approaching adulthood, viewers are anxious to see what they will do next and whether they will follow the path their siblings took, or the path their parents want. While, TLC hasn't confirmed a renew of Welcome to Plathville, Moriah's ex-boyfriend, Max Kallschmidt, might have.
How Did Max Confirm Season 4?
On February 11, 2022, Max addressed the rumors that him and Moriah had broken up. Moriah and Max began dating in season 2 of Welcome to Plathville, and were together throughout the duration of season 3. However, after their social media interactions with each other dwindled to a sudden halt for several months, fans began to assume the two had broken up. On his new YouTube channel, Max Kallschmidt, Max posted a video titled, "My relationship with myself, my journey, my relationship with Moriah" (which has since been deleted). In the video, Max confirmed that he and Moriah had broken up, but in the process, may have confirmed something else as well.
"I Opted Out Of Season 4"
Max stated in his video, and in the video description, that his main reason for opening up about his break-up with Moriah was so he could tell his side of the story. Meanwhile, because he, "opted out of season 4," this was his one chance to be authentic and tell his story, unlike he could do on TV. While he didn't say it by name, it is quite obvious he is referring to Welcome to Plathville and confirming he won't appear on the show in the future. However, the fact that he "opted out" suggests that a 4th season is being planned, and perhaps is already in the works. It could also mean that he simply decided beforehand that he won't appear in it regardless of its renewal. Yet, his determination to tell "his side" of the story also strongly suggests that his break-up with Moriah will be a plot point for season 4. As none of the Plath family members have mentioned season 4, it raises the question if Max accidentally spilled the beans.
Will Welcome to Plathville Have A Season 4?
All that Max's video confirms 100% is that he won't be returning for season 4. Until TLC officially renews Welcome to Plathville and sets a release date, season 4 is still technically up in the air. At the same time, it would be odd for Max to have been offered, and subsequently declined, appearing in a 4th season if it wasn't being planned and executed. Welcome to Plathville is among TLC's most popular series and there is a lot of potential for season 4. Ethan and Olivia's feud, growing children, beginnings of careers, new relationships, break-ups, and relocations all offer plenty of drama and intrigue for another round of Plath. Max's casual mention of season 4 is the closest thing right now to an official confirmation, so fans will have hold onto that until the official renewal comes.
